Closing our Vacation - Back at the House

Well, we did other things like gem mining, hiking, white water rafting, etc... but some of those pictures were not on my digital camera...hope you enjoy the others. I am closing the round of pictures with a few from the house on top of Apple Mountain!!

NC Part 6 (Grandfather Mtn Cont...)

Black Bear #2
Rare Cinnamon Black Bear...LOVED FOOD
Mile High Bridge on the top of the mountain. This bridge moves when you walk on it and it kinda was a weird feeling to a pregnant women...
Morgan and Kaelyn at the Highland Games
One of the views from on top of Grandfather Mtn.

NC Part 6 (Grandfather Mountain)

Here is a black bear that Austin was able to cox into sitting up for a few bites of food
Gorgeous Bald Eagle
Scottish Highland games. (I may have been the only one to enjoy this part?)
The kids playing around on the way to go hiking on Grandfather Mountain
Michael and I on the top of Grandfather Mountain after crossing the Mile High bridge

NC Part 5 (Biltmore Estate Cont...)

This was the bass "pond" at the Biltmore...I guess it had to be a little more like a lake since it was the pond for 8,000+ acres!
More views of the gardens... We don't know how much the home and gardens are worth today, but we did find out that they pay 12 million in taxes each year! Um, very nice!
A little glimpse from the inside of the green house
Along the path to the bass pond
A view from the "porch" at the bass pond - it was so perfectly peaceful out there!

NC Part 5 (Biltmore Estate)

Okay, after being at Grandfather Moutain (pictures to come later) and seeing a large tree tumor on display. The kids thought it pretty exciting to see a tree tumor in real life! This one happened to be on the path back to the parking lot at the Biltmore Estate.
Some of the amazing architecture at the Biltmore
Front View walking toward the house
A couple pretty shots of the garden...the gardens were pretty amazing
to be continued...

NC Vacation Part 4

Friday night (7/11) we went to the outdoor ampitheatre in Boone and saw the production of "The Horn in the West". Here are the girls with a few of their favorite actors :).
This was Jack's mom...don't remember her name? (sorry)
And of course the Famous - Daniel Boone!!
After picking on him a little because of one of his scenes in the play...Toby Miller decided to prove to the girls that he WAS strong...thus holding them for the picture. Good thing I didn't take too long to get that shot!
Here was a picture of the girls in the Linville River Bed...let over from Part 3 :)

NC Vacation Part 3

A couple shots on the outside of Linville Caverns. The kids had a great time climbing down to the river bed and also throwing pebbles/stones from above and listening to them crash below.

Austin's 1st time on Horse Back!!
Morgan's 1st time on Horse Back!!
Kaelyn's 2nd time on Horse Back and she rode like a pro! Kaelyn held the position directly behind our guide and seemed to be second in command the entire way!! She did an incredible job leading us from up front :).

NC Vacation Part 2

Morgan, Kaelyn & Austin - about to enter Linville Caverns
Austin bottling river water which was later consumed by the boys!! :)
Inside the caverns - this is what they called the wedding scene...can you see everyone up on stage?
Kaelyn & Austin...Linville Caverns - I think this is a great picture!!
Okay, so the hiking boots were a little bit of a problem when we first got them. All those crazy ways of lacing and tying...oh Michael please help!!

North Carolina Vacation Part 1

We are starting with "around the house pictures"...Here are the kids our first morning on the back deck!!
These next few pictures are of the view that we enjoyed each day as we looked out our window!
Gorgeous shot of Table Rock.
And one more as the sun set...
After the sun set...we had a blast at our camp fires, telling funny stories and roasting marshmellows for smores :)!
